WA drivers slowing down – but not quite enough
Results from a Main Roads WA speed survey for 2011 measuring speeds across the state has been noted by the Road Safety Council as a valuable indication of speed compliance and average travel speeds among Western Australian motorists.

2012 Used Car Safety Ratings released
In July 2012 Monash University Accident Research Centre released the latest update of its Used Car Safety Ratings (UCSR), which rate a broad range of second hand passenger and light commercial vehicles on how well they protect drivers from death or serious injury in a crash.

Priority Area in the spotlight: Impaired Driving
In recent years, the contribution of drink driving to the number of people killed and seriously injured on WA roads has increased. In 2009 alcohol was a factor in over 32 per cent of road deaths – an escalation from 20 per cent in 2003.

Regional Story: Minister visits alchol interlock trial in Roebourne
The Hon Liza Harvey, Minister for Police and Road Safety, visited Roebourne in August to view the trial of alcohol interlocks.  The Roebourne trial is investigating the issues associated with fitting and using alcohol interlocks in remote areas, with a view to implementing the use of alcohol interlocks for repeat offenders in other regional and remote areas as well.

20 Year Strategic Community Plan will shape the City’s planning into the future. It will outline the vision, values and aspirations of our community, which in turn will determine the City of Mandurah’s strategic priorities over the next two decades.
