Understand the Bushfire\u00a0 Warning System Alert Levels<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n During a bushfire, emergency services will provide as much\u00a0 information as possible <\/i><\/p>\n through a variety of channels. <\/i><\/p>\n DFES issues Community Alerts for bushfires that threaten\u00a0 lives and properties.\u00a0 <\/i><\/p>\n The alert level changes to reflect the increasing risk to\u00a0 your life and the decreasing <\/i><\/p>\n amount of time you have until the fire arrives.\u00a0 <\/i><\/p>\n More information can be found at\u00a0 <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n http:\/\/www.dfes.wa.gov.au\/safetyinformation\/warningsystems\/Pages\/default.aspx<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n Please feel free to forward the attached Monthly Theme Fact\u00a0 Sheet and the snippet information on to your Bushfire Ready Groups, community\u00a0 networks and anyone that would benefit from this information.<\/p>\n \u00a0ABC1 Catalyst\u00a0 disaster behaviour special \u2013 \u2018Don\u2019t panic\u2019 if you missed\u00a0 it\u2026<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n <\/b>ABC1 (TV) Catalyst program broadcast a special feature on Sunday December 1 at 7.30 called \u201cDon\u2019t Panic; Surviving\u00a0 Extremes\u201d which uses live scenarios to demonstrate how people behave in\u00a0 disasters and why plans, and practicing plans, are so vital. I have attached a\u00a0 document that provides some background information on the\u00a0 program.<\/p>\n http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/catalyst\/dontpanic.htm<\/a> – link to the program<\/p>\n http:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/catalyst\/stories\/3900777.htm<\/a> – link to transcript and additional preparedness information mentioned in the\u00a0 program<\/p>\n http:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/weather-services\/catalyst<\/a>\/\u00a0\u00a0 – Bureau of Meteorology information and images that were used in the program as\u00a0 well as the bushfire and cyclone scenarios<\/p>\n This major TV event\u00a0 was put together with the assistance of the BoM, NSW RFS, NSW SES,<\/b> Dr Rob\u00a0 Gordon, Prof<\/b> Sandy MacFarlane<\/b> and some funding came from EMA<\/b>.<\/p>\n ARE YOU\u00a0 BUSHFIRE READY?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n \u00a0Western Australians are being asked \u201cAre you ready?\u201d for the\u00a0 bushfire season as part of\u00a0 a new State Government media campaign that was\u00a0 launched on 1 December 2013.<\/p>\n \u00a0The \u201cAre you ready?\u201d campaign centres on the message that\u00a0 bushfire preparedness is a \u201cshared responsibility\u201d and encourages the community\u00a0 to make necessary preparations for the season.<\/p>\n Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith fronts the\u00a0 campaign along with representatives from each of the State\u2019s fire services.
