Art work at Dorset Rd

There is to be an official opening of the art work that has been created at the Dorset Rd rest stop and we are all invited. The organisers, Peel Development Commission, really want as many locals as possible to attend. It is, after all, a community project.

Refreshments will be provided and if you wish to attend you are asked to advise Donna Selby at, phone 9535 0011 or 0419 939 456.

The opening will be held on site at the Dorset Rd rest area on Friday May 6, 2 – 4 pm.

The link below will give you some background on the project.

If you have my previous posts, you are now eligible to put an application for this payment through Centrelink.  I have placed some of the application forms at the hall this afternoon.  You will need to take two forms of identification with you when filling out the form.  If you are partners each partner will have to sign the form.

There is no problem for people who were living in Lake Clifton and were in the fire area or who were evacuated. For the people living in Herron they are still working out the area. I live in Herron and I put my application in to see if it was approved

If you need any more information accessed please do not hesitate to contact Tracey on 0427 442 781.

This is a link to the Western Australia website.  Apparently Lake Clifton residents in the area who had to leave their homes are eligible for the AGDRP payment subject to approval of $1000 a adult and$400 a child.

Will let you know how to access this money as soon as I know.

Thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Everybody

Today I a letter from the EPA Appeals Convenor’s office in regard to the Herron Quarry.

The appeal against grant and conditions of the clearing permit at the Quarry was received by the EPA.

The letter says”The appeal will be investigated by this office.  This will involve obtaining comments from the DEC, the permit holder and any other public authorities or individuals with an interest in the subject matter of the appeal.  In line with normal practice, a copy of your appeal will also be provided to the proponent to allow the opportunity to respond to the issues.

Once the investigations have been completed, a report is prepared for the consideration of the Minister for Environment.  The Minister then determines the appeal,  the details of which will be communicated to you and other interested parties in writing.

Please note that pending the determination of the appeal, the clearing permit is deemed not to have been granted.

Are you interested in  being part a small exhibition at the Falcon eLibrary and Community Centre in mid July?  I am seeking expressions of interest from local people that would like to display artworks related to the fire, trinkets that have been through the fire, paintings, photographs, written works, anything related to your fire experience.  It is hoped that by doing this we can raise awareness of the devastating effect of fire in the local community.  Please contact Kelly Doye on 0419 943 221 or
